Wait—that’s not right . . .
What I meant to say is, my near-future apocalyptic zombie short story is up at Strange Horizons right now, this very minute.
So, if you’re partial to militias, marines, or pus (preferably all three?): click away!

Oh! Oh oh oh!
Haha–that is a post-apocalyptic icon if I ever saw one!
Gaaaaah that was creepy. *shivers, clutches arms*
Thanks! You know me–I aim for the creep factor every time ;)
Congrats!! Will check it out!
Thanks!
Wow. That was an….interesting way to procrastinate working on my chapter revisions.
Can I use this story in my class this semester, for my zombie section at the end of the term? It would be PERFECT.
OMG–of course you can use it! Do you have any idea how far that would go in exorcising my ambivalence toward my place in academia? I would laugh, and laugh, and laugh . . .
AWESOME.
I cannot wait to creep my students out with this story and THEN tell them that I know the author. It’s going to be SO COOL.
Believe me, I will be very intrigued to hear how it goes:D
*cries*
That was so freaking good.
Yay! (Those are tears of zombie-joy, right? Right?)
Tears of zombie-joy, also tears of emotional suffering and angst joy. :)
Zombies scare me, but the story’s great. Cool.
Zombies scare me
Well, I’m glad you read it anyway :D
(They scare me too, which is probably why I find it so much fun to write about them.)
I have no zombie icon. But that does not change my depth of excitement for you!!! *goes to read*
Trust me, dangercookies suits me just fine!
Excellent stuff! Really liked the hard-boiled protagonist & creepy atmosphere. Inspiring!
Thanks! I go back and forth between whether she’s hard-boiled or, you know . . . a sociopath. I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
Ah well, I didn’t dare put it quite so strongly. You never know how emotionally attached writers get to their characters :-)
Just read it. It runs so smoothly from beginning to end! The girl with the rat is the creepiest. Vivid!
